The full-service way into India: a connection we build by hand, with the onward domestic sectors on the same ticket.

Where they take you from Nairobi
No nonstop from Nairobi, and no city list the airline publishes from here. The sector to Delhi is a connection we build by hand and issue as one journey.
Air India is the full-service way into India, and on a long itinerary that matters more than the headline fare. Checked bags sit inside the fare rather than after it, and onward domestic sectors across India ride on the same ticket as the international leg, so the journey holds together when something slips instead of falling into two bookings that have never heard of each other.
Air India does not fly out of Nairobi, so the connection is one we build by hand: we pick the hub, we pick the layover, and we tell you which airline flies which leg and what the transfer looks like on the ground before you agree to any of it. A search box will happily sell you a fifty-minute change in a terminal you have never walked through. We would rather sell you two hours and a coffee.
Against IndiGo, the question is usually the same one: a keen fare and a short hop, or a fare with everything already in it and a network that carries on well past Delhi and Mumbai. Tell us which India you are flying to, and who is coming with you, and we will price both.
Where we use it
These sectors turn up most often in the journeys we build. Each destination page has the rest of the trip on it.
Questions people put to us about this airline
Baggage, alliances and how the ticket actually gets issued. The answers come from what the airline itself publishes, and we confirm what applies to your own fare before you pay.
What baggage allowance comes with an Air India ticket?
Air India publishes checked allowance by region and by cabin, in kilograms on some routes and in pieces on others, so the number follows the routing rather than the airline. What matters on an India trip is the domestic sector after the international one: on a single ticket the through allowance usually carries, on two separate bookings it does not. We tell you which of the two you are looking at before you pay.
Does Star Alliance or the Maharaja Club change anything?
It flies as Star Alliance, so a Star card credits here. Its own programme is the Maharaja Club, and the published extra allowance is 20kg on weight-concept routes or one extra 23kg piece on piece-concept ones at Gold and Platinum, with 5kg at Silver. The airline is explicit that the extra does not apply on codeshare or interline flights, which on a hand-built connection is exactly the case worth checking. Give us the number before we issue.
How does an Air India ticket get issued here?
There is no nonstop from Nairobi, so we build the connection by hand: we pick the hub, we pick the layover, and we tell you what the transfer looks like on the ground before you agree to it. The onward domestic sectors go on the same ticket as the international leg wherever the fare allows it. Everything is issued in Nairobi by an IATA-accredited agent, with the fare rules in writing first. How ticketing works here has the rest.

However this journey is routed, the ticket is issued in Nairobi by an IATA-accredited agent: est. 1994, two offices you can walk into, and a person who answers when a connection drops at six in the morning. How ticketing works here (what happens after you ask, and the questions people put to us before they commit) is set out in full on the flights page.
