Who it suits
Princess is the quiet one of the big-ship lines. The ships are large enough to have everything and calm enough that you notice the sea. Sea days are the point rather than the filler, which suits travellers who came to read, eat well and watch the coast go past. It is also the easiest of them to travel on with parents in tow.

Diamond Princess sails nine nights round trip from Tokyo in late April, north to Aomori, Muroran and Hakodate on Hokkaido, then across to Busan in Korea and back by way of Nagasaki. Late April is the tail of the cherry blossom, which moves north through the season. Hokkaido comes into flower weeks after Tokyo has finished. That sailing carries a special fare with us, ocean view and balcony both.
