Two airlines, one network, two doors into Europe: Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Both have been Nairobi’s way onto the continent for a very long time, and they share a page here because that is how they behave: one booking, either hub, whichever suits the rest of the journey.
Which door you take is usually decided by what comes after it. Schiphol is built around connecting onward; Charles de Gaulle puts you in Paris, which on some trips is the point rather than the transit. Either way the European sector rides on the same ticket as the long one, and that is the difference between a delay being rebooked and a delay being your problem.
They fly as SkyTeam and are longstanding partners of Kenya Airways, so an itinerary can leave on one and come home on the other without turning into two separate bookings and two separate arguments.

What baggage allowance comes with a KLM or Air France ticket?
Both airlines sell the fare in brands, and the brand decides the bag. On KLM a Standard or Flex Economy ticket carries one checked bag up to 23kg and 158cm; a Light Economy ticket carries none in the base fare and you buy it separately. Air France reads the same way in Economy. Business on a Light ticket still carries a bag, up to 32kg. This is the commonest reason a headline fare turns out not to be the cheaper one, so we price the brands side by side rather than the lowest number.
Does SkyTeam or Flying Blue change anything?
They fly as SkyTeam and share one programme, Flying Blue, so miles earned on either sit in the same account. KLM publishes one extra checked bag at no charge for Flying Blue Silver and Gold members and two for Platinum, on its own flights and on some partner airlines. Silver is recognised as SkyTeam Elite across the alliance, Gold and Platinum as Elite Plus. Give us the number before we issue.
