The eastern Himalaya over eight days. Kalimpong is a quiet hill town with a mild climate, known for its orchids. Gangtok comes next, with an excursion up to Tsomgo Lake, high among the mountains. Pelling, in Sikkim's West district, looks out at Khangchendzonga and the peaks beside it.

How the days run

Day 1
Arrive and on to Kalimpong
Arrive at Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri railway station and transfer to Kalimpong, a peaceful hill town with a pleasant climate.
Day 2
Kalimpong
Local sightseeing in Kalimpong, a town known for its orchids and gladioli.
Day 3
To Gangtok
On to Gangtok, with time to explore the city.
Day 4
Tsomgo Lake
An excursion from Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake, a high-altitude lake surrounded by mountains.
Day 5
Gangtok to Pelling
On to Pelling, in the West district of Sikkim, visiting Khecheopalri Lake, Rimbi Falls and the Rabdentse ruins.
Day 6
Pelling to Darjeeling
Pelling's view of Khangchendzonga and its neighbouring peaks, then on to Darjeeling.
Day 7
Darjeeling
Sunrise at Tiger Hill, then Darjeeling's sights: the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Peace Pagoda and the tea estates.
Day 8
Back to Bagdogra
Transfer back to Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri for your onward journey.
