The shape of the journey

The shortest itinerary the Governors' Camp Collection publishes, and the one most people should start with. You land at Jomo Kenyatta, cross to Wilson, and are in the Maasai Mara National Reserve inside the hour. Three nights, one camp, no repacking.

You stay at either Governors' Camp or Governors' Il Moran Camp. Both sit inside the reserve rather than outside it, which is the whole argument for this trip. Game drives leave from where other people's end.

How the days run

A proposal, not a timetable. The routing, timings and inclusions are confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

Nairobi, then straight into the Mara
Met at Jomo Kenyatta and driven across to Wilson for the Governors' Aviation flight, about forty-five minutes over the Great Rift Valley. The drive from the airstrip to camp is your first game drive. Lunch outside, then out again in the afternoon, and the campfire after dinner.

Day 2
A full day in the reserve
Up to three game drives, all of them inside the reserve. Out early while the light is low, back through the heat, out again when it drops.

The Mara, again
The same shape, different country. This is the day to book the balloon if you want it. It goes up at dawn and costs extra, so tell us early rather than on the morning.

Breakfast and an unhurried morning in camp, then the short transfer to the airstrip and the Governors' Aviation flight back to Nairobi for your onward connection.
