Overview

The shape of the journey

Two halves of Kenya that do not look alike. Loldia House sits on Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley, where the wildlife is on the water as much as on the land. The Maasai Mara is the other thing entirely: open country, big cats, and the reserve running to the horizon.

Loldia House

The Collection's farmhouse in the Great Rift Valley, on Lake Naivasha. Boat safaris and game drives go from the door, and Lake Nakuru and Lake Elmenteita are both within reach of a day out.

Governors' Camp or Governors' Il Moran Camp

Either of the Collection's two camps inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You choose which when you book.

How the days run

Met at Jomo Kenyatta and driven across to Wilson for the Governors' Aviation flight to Loldia's airstrip. Tea at the house, and the lake at the end of the lawn.

Naivasha, on the water and off it
A boat safari on the lake and a game drive from the house. If you would rather go further, Lake Nakuru National Park and Lake Elmenteita are both options for the day. Say so in advance and we will build it in.

Fly to the Maasai Mara
Breakfast at Loldia, then the flight south-west to the Mara. You are in camp for lunch, and the afternoon game drive is your introduction to the reserve.

A full day in the Mara
Several game drives, all inside the reserve. The balloon goes up at dawn if you want it, and it is booked separately at extra cost.

An early drive while the light is still low, a rest through the middle of the day, and out again as it drops. Sundowners after.
